Technological Advances

Technology has affected civilization and its surroundings in a number of ways. In many societies today, technology has helped grow huge economies and has permitted the increase of a leisure class. Loads of technological techniques make unwanted by-products, the most common would refer to as pollution, to further reduce natural elements in the Earth and its environment. Diverse implementations of technology affect the standards of a culture and new technology often raises new moral doubts. Examples include the rise for the notion of efficiency regarding human output, a word originally applied just to machinery, which also challenges of traditional way of doing things.

Science and engineering technologies have vastly improved since the 19th century making it easier for us to build, investigate and manipulate things. The simple box shaped television set that needed a mini van to carry, has been upgraded so much that it can be handled like a piece of paper and carried in a small car. The simple personal computer, once a huge collection of mainframe sizes where a whole boardroom space was needed as storage, now with the luxury of carrying it in a small leather bag for hundreds of miles and and average 3 hours battery life.

Technology is here to stay, making the most of it is probably an essential requirement these days, for example as soon as a new model iPhone is produced the previous versions become less important. Along with constant imporvements to technology there is always something new on the horizon.
